Description

Foxtail Flakes Kheer is a delicious and nutritious dessert made using foxtail millet flakes, a healthy alternative to traditional rice or wheat flakes. Ingredients
  • 1 cup fine Poha / flakes
  • 500 ml Milk
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 4 tbsp Milk Powder
  • 3 Cardamom
  • 2 Bay Leaf
  • 2 tbsp Ghee
  • 1 tsp ghee
  • 10 Cashews
  • 6 Almonds
Instructions
  1. Assemble ingredients, chop Almonds and crush Cardamom.

  2. Fry cashews till golden brown and keep aside.
  3. In moderately heated pan add 2 tbsp ghee, add flattened rice and fry for 2-3 minutes till slight golden brown.

  4. In pan add 1 tsp melted ghee, then add already boiled milk, add milk powder and mix very nicely.

     

  5. Now switch on flame and simmer milk for 2-3 minutes. Add cardamom and simmer for 2-3 minutes.

  6. Now add poha / flakes and mix well. Cook for 6 - 7 minutes under medium flame, we need to cook flakes .

  7. Now add sugar + dry fruits and cook for 3-4 minutes under medium flame.

  8. Simmer for 2 minutes under low flame. Consistency should be on the thinner side as after cooling flakes will soak milk and turn thick.

  9. Now foxtail Poha Kheer / payasam is ready.

  10. Serve after 1 - 2 hour, garnish with cashews or any dry fruits. Either serve chilled or at room temperature.
